Hiji Falls and Okuma Resort

October 3.  Caroline and I took a tour up to the northern part of the island today.  Hiji falls is the second largest water fall on Okinawa.  The tour guide told us it was "uphill both ways."  I thought he was joking.  It was uphill both ways.  First, you went up a thousand steps, then you went down a thousand steps.
It took about a half hour to get to the falls.  It is not like Hawaii.  In Hawaii, you get to the falls and jump in!  You aren't allowed to do that here.

We had to cross a suspension bridge to get there.  When you travel with a bus load of marines, you better expect that they will jump up and down so everyone feels it.
It wasn't scary but some of the kids got nervous.

At the falls

After Hiji, we headed over to the military resort area, Okuma.  It is a beautiful waterfront area with cabins, water sports etc.
Caroline jumped in an snorkeled after the Hiji Falls hike.
I can't begin to explain how transparent the water is here.  The visibility is amazing.
