Tokashiki Island in the Kerama Islands

View out hotel room
I surprised Bill the last weekend of August.  We took a 30 minute ferry ride to Tokashiki Island. Tokashiki is the largest of the Kerama Islands.  The Kerama Islands are one of the most famous dive spots in the world.  The water is crystal clear.  The clearest that I ever seen.  The visibility is even better than Hawaii. Bill and I love to snorkel so this was a real treat.  The island is about 8 miles long, tiny.

As you can see, as beautiful as Hawaii. In fact, Okinawa is known as the Hawaii of Japan.

The beach

We snorkel right from the beach here.

We drove up the mountain and saw several goats living along the side of the road.

So cute.

War memorial.  There are many all over Okinawa.  Okinawa was devastated during WWII, caught between both the US and Japan.  There are War Memorials all over as well as Peace Parks.
