Kyoto Day 2- Oct 5

Caroline and I wanted to go back to the Monkey Park on our first day.  We went two years ago and loved it.  The village around the park is very beautiful also.
I am really tired after our 4th day here, so I will skip much text.
The entrance to the park.  The monkeys are sacred and protected here.

It is a good hike up the mountain.  not bad.  About 20 minutes.

You start seeing them as you get closer to the top.

Beautiful view from up here.  The weather has been perfect.  About 78 day, and 60 at night.  No rain at all.

You feed the monkeys from inside an enclosure.  It is so cute how they stick their hand in to get food from you.  Some of them even scream at you until you give them an apple.

Here is Caroline.

Jared.

Patrick had company during his cigarette break.  No, I don't want him to smoke but if he is going to smoke, on a mountain top with monkeys is not so bad.  We think some of them must like cigarettes because they gathered when Patrick walked to the smoking area.

You may remember from earlier posts that Bill is not an animal lover.

"Get away from me monkey"

There are some wild boar, very tame.

We went down to the village for lunch.  Very beautiful.

After lunch, we went to a wonderful temple.  Another World Heritage site.  People tie their wishes...

Caroline took these shots...

You can see that fall is on the way...

Bill was upset that he had to wear these shoes while walking in the temple.  We took a picture while he wasn't looking...It was sooo funny.

Bill always takes pictures of flowers for his mom...

Hummingbird.

There is a bamboo forest behind the temple.

We had a great day.  We walked through the village on the way to the train station.  Really amazing.  caroline was saying how better it was to tour without the tour bus scene because we had to learn to get around, speak much more Japanese and really get our feet on the ground in the local areas, she was right.  Great day!
