We went biking on the city wall in Xi An. That was the highlight of my trip! It was a great experience. I really missed Bill. He would have loved this one too.
This is a picture of the outside of the wall from the main street. The tower is one of the wall gates.
At the top of the wall, we went and rented bikes. You can see the smog, if you went to fast on your bike, your eyes burned little.
It really was charming.
Patrick and Riley got a two seater.
Caroline shared with Aiden. He is an 8th grader at her school.
Of course, they raced. And, of course, there was a dispute as to who actually won and who "cheated."
A little girl started waving to us and saying "Ni Hao" (Hello). She was so cute. When it was picture time she clammed up. You do not see many children in China. It is a little eerie like that town in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
We went to Moslen Street next to see the market and Great Mosque. They are traditional Moslems but with a Chinese twist. It was interesting to see.
Here, you see signs in Arabic and Chinese.
The gate to the Moslem District.
There were street sweepers all over China using the old style brooms.
The Moslem District.
Here, we are going into the market.
One of the shirts is Obama in Communist gear.
Eggs on a stick.
Scenes from inside the Great Mosque area.
These two followed us around. I think they were making sure we behaved.
A very interesting trip.
