Patrick finally made it to Okinawa! Our first outing was to Cape Zanpa lighthouse. It is about 25 minutes from the house.
We had an amazing day.
This is an unusually long entry as we packed so much into this day.
There is a park before the lighthouse. Everyone takes there pictures next to the giant Shisa. FYI, shisa are from China. Much of the Okinawan culture comes from China, not Japan.
There is a petting zoo before the lighthouse.
Here we are at the top of the lighthouse.
You can see how clear the water is from the top of the lighthouse. Great snorkeling here.
The salt gathers on the rocks. It is actually harvested and sold near by. We tasted it...
Bill always takes pictures of the flowers.
After the lighthouse we traveled down the road for about 5 minutes to this beautiful resort hotel that caroline and I discovered back in the fall. We ate at an amazing dim sum restaurant. They just kept bringing dim sum out to us!
Caroline is getting really good with chopsticks (hashi).
Bill was feeling peaceful...
We took a walk around the grounds after lunch. The resorts here are beautiful. Much better than the ones we saw in Hawaii. The service anywhere in Japan can not be compared to anything.
I have to show the daisies, my favorite. They just make me happy...
The beautiful wedding chapel on the resort grounds...
While Bill was taking shots of the chapel, I decided to hunt for my first four leaf clover in Okinawa. Anyone who knows me know that i can find one in an ocean of clovers. Here is the picture to prove it.
I ended up finding about 8. In fact, everyone found at least to. I had to mark off a 12 inch by 12 inch area for a few (nameless) ones, but we all got to pick at least two. The luck comes from actually picking them.
Caroline, in training...
After leaving the resort we drove for about 5 minutes to Torii Station. Torii Station is one of the Army bases here. It has a beautiful beach. Caroline really wanted to go. It was on the way home so we stopped for a while.
Patrick and Caroline went looking for sea glass and shells and coral. Lots of coral here.
Spring is here so I got a neat springtime manicure. The manicures here are amazing. I will post a blog on them when I collect enough.
A GREAT day!!
