Hong Kong-December 22

Hong Kong was amazing.  Bill and Caroline said that was their favorite.   We had great weather.
It was really different than what we expected.  I am not sure what we expected, but it was different.
English is spoken often there.  It is very built up and sophisticated.  It was really advanced compared to the US.

Our hotel was on a main shopping road.  The 5th avenue of Hong Kong.  There were many Chinese tourists.  You can see that the streets were packed with Christmas shoppers.  They stay up late in Hong Kong, well past midnight.

They (mostly mainland Chinese tourists) were lined up outside the designer shops.

We went down to the harbor the first night.  It was about a 5 minute walk.  10 minutes breaking through the shopping mobs.  Really, the crowds were amazing in Hong Kong, very crowded.

We checked into the hotel about 3 pm and hit the streets by 3:30.

We were told that the Christmas lights were amazing but we had no idea until we got to the harbor.  Whole buildings were lit up and decorated.  There is a laser light show over the harbor every night in Hong Kong with music.  The buildings light up to the beat of the music.  It is more amazing at Christmas.

The mall near the harbor was decorated with the most amazing decorations that I have ever seen.  We went in search of food.  We are kind of tired of japanese style food.  So we got cheeseburgers and shakes...

As you can see, crowds were everywhere.  Bill was saying that whoever is complaining about "the war on Christmas has not been to the far east, it is alive and well here!"

That was enough for the first night!
