Caroline's Paddling Meet - Dec 13

Caroline had her first paddling meet this past weekend. The meets are held at Ala Moana Beach Park down in Honolulu at the marina.

The teams has to carry the boats to and from the water.

They came in second place behind Punahou School. They are in the blue boat.

So happy! Second place. This was a big victory for Le Jardin, a small school compared to the rest.

Caroline Paddling Practice

Caroline joined the paddling team at Le Jardin. We had a two week break from cross-country before we started the paddling team.
Paddling is not rowing! I learned that recently. Paddling is one oar. Since the islands are believed to have been populated by people paddling here, it is held in high regard. Paddling oars are even on the state flag.
Here are some pictures of today's practice.
Luckily, practices are at the beach near our home. Caroline can walk to practice. These are pictures of Kailua Beach Park, about a 15 minute walk from our house.
