Sea Glassing with my Friends - April 29

It was a beautiful day for sea glassing.  My four buddies (Sarah, Kristin, Michelle and Sabrina) and I had a GREAT day together.
We all met at the Gift Shop that I used to work at.
The beach is up north a bit, about 30 minutes away.  We're off.

Michelle volunteered to drive, thanks Michelle!
"Sea Glass Beach" as we call it is a beach off the private property of a local farmer.  Our friend took us last year and swore us to secrecy.  Well, apparently, word is out and plenty of peaople know about it.  There is sea glass everywhere!  Last year I picked up 23 pounds in just one hour!  Now, I have so much sea glass, I am very picky and only pick up blues and greens.
We were not 100% sure how to get there.  That was a bit of an adventure.

Sarah freaking out that she got sunscreen on her shirt.  We thought it was the dredded Habu snake and we all screamed.  We were in the middle of no where.

The middle of nowhere...

We had to trek through this tall grass and again the Habu snake was on everyone's minds.  Sarah was in front of me, kind of funny, she was shaking her keys trying to scare off any snakes.  Hilarious.

Michelle was not going anywhere until we told her that there was no snakes, bugs, spiders, creepy crawlies of any kind...

Finally, we found the path to the beach...

I have a lot of sea glass so I took pictures.

We brought a packed lunch and took a break by the shore.  Really relaxing.

My girl, Michelle brought me my favorite thing:  Barbecue Potato Chips!  Just for me!  That is a true friend.

Am I lucky or what??!!

Sabrina brought cupcakes with my favorite combo:  chocolate cake with choclate icing. I had 2.  She insisted!  I had to go to the water and take a bath because I had chocolate all over me.  So good!  I think I have some frosting on my neck!  I didn't notice that before...

Time to find our way home.

A secret that made Sarah blush.
We will never tell.
On the way home, we had quite a few laughs.  Too much sun.

A great day with some of the best people anyone could ever know.

5K Lester Middle School - April 27

Jared's last day with us is May 3rd :(
Our last "Family Fun Day" is a "Family Run Day"  The middle school where Caroline attends, and Jared works as an AVID Program tutor, was having its 1st annual Lester Middle School 5K Family Run.
I have been training for a 5K since January and this was perfect.  I am up to 6.5 miles but I am not too interested in running more than 4.5 miles at a time.
We had great weather.  Luckily, the race didn't start until 9:30 am so we didn't have to get up really early on a Saturday.
Here we are getting ready to get our Safety Brief.
They gave us LMS T-Shirts too!

Stretching before the race.

Here is a good look at the school.  We really love this school.  It has been great for this family.

Great turnout for the Booster Club!!

Patrick wanted no part of running so he was the photographer. He was very grouchy at this point in the morning...I told him not to stay up too late.  Oh well.  He took great shots for being half asleep.

Heading to the starting line...

Jared is pictued here with his fellow AVID teacher.  He also tutors her daughter.  They have a great time together.  A lot of the teachers were coming up and telling us how much they are going to miss Jared.

We are off.  Jared and Caroline were ahead of Bill and I.  Bill stayed with me even though I run about a very slow 12 minute mile.

So fun, lots of families.  We had families with tiny children handing out water (and gummy bears??!!) and cheering us on throughout the run.  So cute.

Lots of strollers... The volunteers at the race were the "Stroller Warriors."  It was their graduation run today.  Not sure what that means.  Thank God, I am past the "stroller" part of my life...almost to the walker stage!

Here comes Jared and Caroline after the first lap (1.5 miles)

Here comes Bill and I, about 3 minutes behind.  OK, note the kid on the tricycle with shark helmut on in the photograph (in front of me!!).  More on him later...

Patrick' friends, so cute.

The entire family comes to the race...

Caroline and Jared at the Finish Line.

Caroline has never run more than a mile or so. She was beat but still smiling.

Here come Bill and I.

Say "5K!"

Having snacks and water after the race.

After they announced the Lester Middle School 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, it was time for the raffle and we were ready!

We win!  A Lester Middle School T-Shirt.

We win!  A $25 ITunes Card!!

OK, remember the kid on the tricycle?  He has in front of me or behind me the entire run.  I told Bill, "I just want to beat the kid on the Trike."  I could hear the wheels of his tricycle behind me like the theme from "Jaws."
He won.  Not saying anymore about that...

Jared and his co-worker.

Flower for Bill's mom.

After the race we had a family lunch.  Caroline getting ready...

Bill and the kids decided to surprise me for Mother's Day and my birthday (May 26) as Jared would not be here for both.

A great day!!
